Dedicated Storage
Dedicated Storage · Physical segregation as a quality-control tool
Dedicated storage protects lot identity and reduces cross-contact and degradation risk. The physical layout of your storage system is a quality-control decision, not just a logistics one.
Facility Priorities
| Priority | What It Protects |
|---|---|
| Segregated bins and transfer paths | Prevents cross-contact between GF and non-GF grains and between different lot identities |
| Verified cleaning between lots | Ensures residual grain from a previous lot does not contaminate or misrepresent the next |
| Controlled temperature and moisture environment | Slows quality degradation and reduces mold and insect risk during storage |
| Lot-level labeling with release status | Prevents accidental release of uncleared lots into process |
Decision Note
Dedicated storage is most valuable when paired with disciplined sampling and chain-of-custody controls. Physical separation without documentation is a partial control, not a complete one.
