Privacy Policy

Effective date: 04-20-2026

The Short Version

I collect as little personal information as I can get away with while still running the site like a functional adult.

I do not collect data because hoarding user information is fun. I collect what is needed to run the site, respond to messages, improve the content, keep the thing secure, and handle any services you intentionally use.

If you contact me, sign up for something, or use features that involve analytics, forms, email, or downloads, some information may be collected. This page explains what that is, why it happens, and what your options are.

Scope

This Privacy Policy explains how I collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information through this site and related communications.

It applies to information collected through:

  • the website
  • contact forms
  • email signups
  • downloads or gated resources
  • analytics tools
  • cookies and similar technologies
  • direct communications you send me

If I add new tools, forms, services, or integrations later, this policy may be updated to reflect that.

Information I Collect

Depending on how you use the site, I may collect:

Information you provide directly

This can include:

  • your name
  • your email address
  • your company name
  • your message contents
  • information you submit through forms
  • information you send by email

If you voluntarily send me more than that, that is on you.

Information collected automatically

When you visit the site, certain information may be collected automatically, such as:

  • IP address
  • browser type
  • device type
  • operating system
  • pages viewed
  • referring URLs
  • timestamps
  • approximate location derived from IP
  • site usage and navigation data

This helps me understand what is working, what is broken, what people actually read, and whether bots are being annoying.

Cookies and similar technologies

The site may use cookies, pixels, local storage, and similar technologies to:

  • keep the site functioning
  • understand traffic and usage
  • remember preferences
  • improve performance
  • measure the effectiveness of content or campaigns

If you hate cookies, you can usually control them through your browser settings. Some site features may work worse if you block everything.

How I Use Information

I may use personal information to:

  • operate and maintain the site
  • respond to messages and requests
  • send newsletters or updates you asked for
  • provide downloads, resources, or other requested materials
  • improve the site, content, and user experience
  • monitor analytics and site performance
  • prevent abuse, fraud, spam, and security issues
  • comply with legal obligations
  • enforce site terms and protect rights

I use information because it serves an actual purpose, not because I need a warehouse full of it.

If and to the extent applicable law requires it, I process personal information based on one or more of the following:

  • your consent
  • performance of a contract or requested service
  • legitimate interests in operating, securing, and improving the site
  • compliance with legal obligations
  • protection of legal rights

If that sentence sounds like lawyer food, congratulations, you found the lawyer food.

How Information Is Shared

I do not sell your personal information in the ordinary, plain-English sense of “selling your data to creeps for cash.”

I may share information with service providers and partners who help operate the site, such as:

  • website hosting providers
  • analytics providers
  • email/newsletter platforms
  • form providers
  • security providers
  • payment processors, if payments exist
  • professional advisors when needed
  • legal authorities when required

They get access only as needed to do their jobs or where law requires it.

Service Providers and Tools

The site may rely on third-party services to operate. Depending on what is enabled, those providers may process personal information on my behalf.

Examples may include:

  • Hosting: [Provider]
  • Analytics: [Provider]
  • Email/newsletter: [Provider]
  • Forms/CRM: [Provider]
  • Payments: [Provider]
  • Embedded media/content: [Provider]

Replace those placeholders with the tools you actually use. Do not leave fantasy infrastructure in your privacy policy.

Retention

I keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described here, including to:

  • respond to you
  • provide requested services
  • maintain records
  • comply with legal obligations
  • resolve disputes
  • enforce agreements
  • protect the site and its users

When information is no longer needed, I will delete it, anonymize it, or stop keeping it in identifiable form, subject to backups and legal requirements.

Security

I use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect information.

That said, no website, email system, database, or internet transmission is perfectly secure. So while I try not to be an idiot about security, I cannot guarantee absolute security.

Do not send highly sensitive information through the site unless you are comfortable with the risks.

Your Choices

Depending on how you interact with the site, you may be able to:

  • choose not to provide information
  • unsubscribe from marketing emails
  • disable cookies through browser settings
  • request access to or deletion of your information, where applicable
  • request correction of inaccurate information, where applicable

To unsubscribe from marketing emails, use the unsubscribe link in the email or contact me directly.

Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have privacy rights under applicable law, which can include the right to:

  • know what personal information is collected
  • access personal information
  • correct inaccurate personal information
  • request deletion of personal information
  • opt out of certain sharing or targeted advertising
  • limit certain uses of sensitive personal information, where applicable
  • not be discriminated against for exercising privacy rights

These rights are not identical everywhere, and some exceptions apply.

To make a request, contact me at:

Email: [privacy@yourdomain.com]
Contact page: [link]

I may need to verify your identity before processing certain requests. That is not me being difficult. That is me trying not to hand your data to the wrong person.

California Notice

If California law applies to this site or to your request, California residents may have specific rights regarding their personal information.

At or before the point of collection, this site may provide notice about:

  • the categories of personal information collected
  • the purposes for which that information is used

If this site ever “sells” or “shares” personal information as those terms are defined by California law, the site will provide any required notice and opt-out mechanism.

If you want to add a formal California section later, this is where it goes.

Children’s Privacy

This site is not directed to children under 13, and I do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

If you believe a child has submitted personal information through the site, contact me and I will take appropriate steps to address it.

International Users

If you access the site from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the United States or other countries where service providers operate.

Those places may have different data protection laws than your home jurisdiction.

By using the site and providing information, you understand that transfer.

Do Not Track

Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” setting. Because there is no universal standard for how to respond to those signals, the site may not respond to them consistently.

If that changes, I will update this section.

Changes to This Policy

I may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.

When I do, I will update the effective date at the top. If changes are material, I may also provide additional notice where appropriate.
