People
The research directory answers "who touches sorghum." These pages answer the other question — who malts, who breeds, who brews, who tests — regardless of which subject page describes them, and regardless of whether they have any connection to this site.
Every page below carries the same six sections in the same order: how to read it · the roster · bodies & gatherings · working with them · how this role connects · who's missing, so a reader who learns one page can read all of them. Only the context changes.
Along the chain
- Breeders & agronomists — the people developing the grain itself
- Growers — who farms gluten-free brewing grain
- Maltsters — who malts it, at every scale
- Suppliers, distributors & equipment — who moves grain, malt, enzymes and yeast, and who builds the kit
- Brewers — who brews gluten-free beer, commercially and at home
- Homebrewers & home maltsters — the amateur layer, which in this category is where much of the experimentation actually happens
Beside the chain
- Researchers & scientists — the people producing the evidence
- Labs, certifiers & standards — who tests, certifies, and writes the rules
- Writers & educators — who explains this work to everyone else
- Patient organizations — who represents the people this beer is for
How these pages work — the rules that apply identically to all of them
One owner, but the reader never has to leave. The full description of a person or organization lives in exactly one place: the role page owns the person, the subject page owns the work. But a short identity travels with the name wherever it appears: who they are, where they work, and why they are named here, in a sentence or two. You should never have to click somewhere else to find out who someone is.
Organizations sit inside the role they perform. A malthouse is a maltster; a testing lab is a lab. There is no catch-all organizations page, because an entity is defined by its work exactly as a person is.
What a listing means. Described, never endorsed. A name here is a map reference, not a recommendation, and it implies no relationship with this site.
What qualifies. A public-facing role, body of work, platform, or commercial offering. Private individuals are not listed without consent, and nobody is listed for hobby activity alone.
Corrections and removals. Anyone listed can ask for a correction or removal — contact us.
